Nomadic Fortress and Mutants of the Monster are thrilled to announce the release of Jucifer’s 7th, full-length album ‘за волгой для нас земли нет’ (beyond the Volga there is no land).
‘The Russian Album,’ as it can be called by those not fluent in the Russian tongue, is a concept album dedicated to the people, events and geography of Volgagrad – more commonly known as Stalingrad.
Lifelong history buffs of Russia and her people, nomadic duo Jucifer – Amber Gazelle Valentine and Edgar Livengood – visited and toured Russian for the first time in 2011. Enthralled with the beauty of the landscape and the rich history of Volgagrad, the creative seed was planted, and Valentine and Livengood began researching, writing and jamming the lyrics and songs that would eventually become their new album.
In typical Jucifer fashion, the new album is sonically diverse, emotionally crushing and massive in execution. One listen to ‘за волгой для нас земли нет,’ and one is instantly aware of the band’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of and redefining extreme music in all its terrible forms.
The album will be released on July 17th in a limited edition 6-panel digipak, and digitally via Nomadic Fortress (Jucifer’s own imprint) and Mutants of the Monster – the label run by C.T. Farris of Rwake, and David Hall of Handshake Inc. A vinyl version of the record, and North American retail CDs will be unleashed in October 2013.
For a taste of heavy, and an enigmatic preview of what to expect from ‘за волгой для нас земли нет,’ please check out an album teaser created by David Hall.
‘за волгой для нас земли нет’ was recorded and mixed in several sessions during 2011, 2012 and 2013 and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, High on Fire, From Ashes Rise).
